Valentine’s Day was looking to be like any other day until Mac unexpectedly showed up at my doorstep. Then moments after I opened the door he almost bolted.  Oh Journal-do men really find me that intimidating? After I coaxed him in he stumbled over his reasons for deciding to show up at all and confessed that Diane had accused him of being a romantic coward. Oh that Diane-she knew he couldn’t let that pass. Then he presented me with a box of my favorite cookies. Did he ask Molly what to bring or did she go out of her way to suggest them?  I didn’t bother to ask. I took one bite, convinced Mac to try one and before I knew it we were on the couch making out like a couple of high school kids.  Minutes later all three of my darling daughters, accompanied by Jason, of all people, walked in on us.  I think we both felt so busted.  Glasses caught in disheveled hair, clutching the box of cookies while trying to explain to my children what they just saw. Oh poor Mac, the police commissioner caught in a seemingly compromising position, blurting out that he was thanking me for the cookies-which he had given to me.  Kristina and Molly so pleased with themselves, Sam so embarrassed and Jason with a look on his face that I just couldn’t describe.  Sam had to practically drag him out of the house. Well at least we didn’t have to call the Auto Club this time to rescue us.

HA! Yeah, how DID they end up on the couch? It was "next thing I know" to us, too.

I was rather skeeved out by Kristina & Molly's reaction. I would have sent both of them to their rooms!
