Hi,

My name is Nancy and I'm a 'tweetaholic.'

Being a single mom, I have many responsibilities. But lately, feeding my child, listening to her, helping her with homework and bill paying have all taken a back seat to my tweeting habit.

I am lying to the people I love. When they ask me what I'm doing, I tell them I am reading the Huffington Post, when in fact ... I am tweeting. I am aligning myself with other addicted celebrity tweeters like Elisabeth Hasselbeck, for which I am so ashamed.  Even though I have not yet tweeted while drinking (okay, actually I have), I fear that I will wake up the next morning with a tweet blackout, having no recollection of what I twittered about. What if I, in a twitter stupor, follow Hasselbeck and mistakenly post her rants/tweets on my twitter home page and push send?!  Someone could mistake me for a Republican! Stop the madness!

One day I know I must come to grips with the peril that is twitter, but in the mean time, I love it!

My co-workers were planning an intervention because they have become concerned that I am watching GH too much.  (Someone is coming to remove the television from my office any day now)  If they knew about this recent twitter addiction I have suddenly developed . . .

I only signed up for Twitter because  I am the designated person that people go to with any tech questions so I figured I had better find out how this works before I got asked a question about tweets at 7am that I couldn't answer.  Blank stares aren't good for job security.  I even started watching a two hour online training course-ugh!  I stopped before I got to the part explaining tweeting with your mobile device (don't do this, you will never return from the dark side!) and of course the other day I was handed a Blackberry and asked to make it "tweet".  I haven't a clue.

I saw here on the site that you were on Twitter and foolishly clicked the "Follow" button.  I thought I was safe when I saw that your account was protected and you only had six followers, I figured that they must be close friends. Then Tuesday I was startled to start getting tweets from you.  That night I was doing some work research online and was also logged on to twitter.  I was half asleep when I saw your tweet about da Bears.  I automatically replied "Go Bears!" before I realized what I was actually doing.  Following your tweets for the past couple of days has been hilarious. But I am thinking I need to designate a few days a week as non-tweet days. Hard when you sit in front of a computer at work most of the day. Keep tweeting, you are so funny!  (in moderation, of course-Kate shouldn't be skipping meals on a regular basis)

Thanks for your post, Nancy!  I had an awful day at work (major layoffs at my job...not me, thank God!), so your post was the one bright spot for me in an otherwise stressful and upsetting day.  Your twitter love is hilarious!  I can relate, though, as I'm becoming more than a little addicted to twitter myself, LOL.
